Verité Research forms Governance and Anti-Corruption research division

Verité Research has established a Governance and Anti-Corruption (GAC) research division under the leadership of Sankhitha Gunaratne. This strategic move comes against the backdrop of widespread, systemic corruption in Sri Lanka and the pressing need for reform and accountability. The GAC division will leverage research to provide guidance on navigating complex governance challenges and shaping both sectoral and general anti-corruption solutions. As the newest division of Verité Research, GAC will collaborate with the Economy, Media & Politics, and Law divisions to enhance Verité’s standing as an interdisciplinary think tank.

Prior to her appointment as the head of governance and anti-corruption at Verité Research, Gunaratne served as the deputy executive director of Transparency International Sri Lanka. In her legal practice, she has worked in company and tax law, alongside extensive involvement with governance-related civil society organizations. Gunaratne also serves on the Board of the UNCAC Coalition, a network of civil society organizations committed to promoting the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC). As a Chevening scholar, she holds a Master of Arts in Corruption and Governance from the University of Sussex.
