Who Are the Major Foreign Lenders for Sri Lanka? 

Sri Lanka’s Foreign debt accounted for 40% of total debt in 2020. ISBs have dominated the ownership of foreign debt from 2014 onwards. The value of ISBs increased from LKR 344 billion in 2011 to LKR 1,797 billion in 2020. Ownership of ISBs has increased by 422% from 2011 to 2020.

Note : China includes bilateral loans with government and the Exim Bank of China.

Other (Multilateral) includes EIB , IFAD , OPEC Fund for International Development , Nordic Development Fund and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank
