President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has directed the Finance Ministry to take immediate action to provide a monthly interim allowance of Rs. 3,000 to all pensioners, starting next week. This decision was made during a meeting at the Presidential Secretariat, following a delay in adding the allowance to the October pension due to a lack of allocated funds, despite the issuance of a related circular in August. Acknowledging the financial struggles faced by pensioners, the President emphasized the importance of ensuring the payment, instructing officials to credit the allowance to pensioners' accounts within the next week and include it in their monthly pensions from November onwards.
